West Coast Swing

In the 50s this dance evolves from Lindy Hop first in California f. The West Coast Swing is a smart mix between Swing and Ballroom Dances. It is also an 8 count dance on a slot using very different type of music from Jazz to blues, funk, soul, R&B, Disco or Rap.

This elegant dance is characterised by an upright posture and very smooth moves. Using theses types of cool moves, dancers can play on music interpretation, improvisation and develop a strong complicity.

Very popular in USA (more than half of the dance club teach this dance), the west Coast Swing also called Slow Swing or sophisticated Swing is the official dance of California since January 1st of 1989 but remains unrecognised in France.

Nevertheless when you have a look at the video of masters such as Jordan & Tatiana (for us, the best) you will understand that this dance is sure to become in next year one of the favourite couple dance of youth, mixing sensuality and techniques of Ballroom Dances with the spontaneity and creativity of Swing Dances.
